Do we have a toxic fanbase?
Well, do we? Just a question, not a judgement.

Re: Do we have a toxic fanbase?
Why aren’t the teams at the bottom of the league doing well without their fans?

Sounds like a lazy assumption to me.

Re: Do we have a toxic fanbase?
We've got 2 media factions at work when it comes to bad mouthing the West Ham support. We have the lazy fuckwits like Lee Dixon who would barely know what colour West Ham play in such is his lack of proper research on the teams he's asked to pundit on and then you have the faction in the clubs pocket who will basically say whatever they are told to say in return for a bottle of scotch or a slice of cake.

Re: Do we have a toxic fanbase?
True it can be like that but when you’ve lost most of your home games year in year out against the Bournemouth’s, Brighton’s and Burnley’s as well as the Man City’s, ,Liverpool’s and Leicester’s after what you’ve been promised , it all gets just a little too much , much as l don’t like the new ground when we do get behind then in there it can be rocking , l think if our fans were in there with this team there wouldn’t be too much moaning this season !

Rubbish. If the team are playing shit the fans let them know. Nothing wrong with that. Most of the "toxicity" over the past few years seems to come from officials giving outrageous bad decisions against us, and there's been plenty of them.

Re: Do we have a toxic fanbase?
It’s true. We create a horrible atmosphere.

If the fans had been in yesterday they would have been getting on the players backs after 30 minutes. Sometimes we are like a 12th man for visiting teams.

Simple solution then eswing. We all stay away when the crowds are let back in.

This ‘David Moyes West Ham are doing really well because of no West Ham fans in the ground moaning at the team ‘ is really going momentum, love heard about ten of these two a penny pundits saying it as though it’s their own thinking and not the media stations agenda, lee Dixon last night , the moose this morning , you would think they didn’t want us in the top six or something!

Re: Do we have a toxic fanbase?
Onebillybonds obviously I overdone my statement . Arsenal are a huge club. No arguments from me that way . Same as spurs as much as I don't like them . Chelsea are just manufactured but I have to give them credit . I obviously don't think their potential is remotely near whufcs but at least theyve had a go and their trophy cabinet shames ours . But the gap between those 3 and us is an absolute disgrace . If gsb were genuinely West ham fans .Which they obviously ain't . They would announce the clubs for sale and and save face. When you're on the radio moaning about an away cup match . Costing you £50 000 the games well and truly up.

Re: Do we have a toxic fanbase?
Like I said, West Ham has always been about its fans. There was a period, before the Premier League, when it was equally about loyal players and bringing the kids through. That began to change with the PL, even when the academy was among the best in the world. The players' loyalty started to erode as the game elsewhere was awash with cash, and all that we were left with was us fans.

It has never been about our owners. This current lot think they are West Ham. They are not.

Re: Do we have a toxic fanbase?
Our lot have generally always hated our owners, fella. Quite rightly. We hated Terry Brown, were largely unimpressed by the hoodwinkers of Iceland, and this current shower are a level above anything we've seen..

You might have to go back to Arnold Hills to find an owner we probably liked. And even he got a bit choosy when we turned pro!

The cearns family seemed respected by some, but most people were ambivalent about them. The latter years of the Cearns' was characterised by them hanging around with Terry Brown - one of the most life-sucking men I've had the misfortune to meet - for far too fucking long.

Re: Do we have a toxic fanbase?
The question should read

Would we have a toxic fan base if we didn't have c*nts for owners?

Re: Do we have a toxic fanbase?
Only1,

Agreed, fella. Don't get me wrong - I don't like many of the changes that have taken place with the Premier League and all that entails. We can remember more enjoyable days.

But change happens, as it did in the 70s and 80s, and we roll with it. What unites us all is our love of one club - which generally treats us all quite badly.

West Ham would be absolutely nothing without its fans. It's not like we're awash with trophies and success. I know we're all biased, but we do genuinely have extraordinary fans who turn out through thick and thin (mostly thin) - and have had for more than a century. I have good friends, from all over the world (including many Italians), who say they are jealous of West Ham because of its fanbase. Even in this mixed-up modern era.

Re: Do we have a toxic fanbase?
Southbank.

You and I have been supporters for longer than we both care to remember and 'm sure you, like me have noticed a change in fans attitude since the PL took over and the internet became available to one and all. We used to moan like fuck on the Chicken Run but that was part of being a West Ham fan. By and largevi still think our lot are amongbthe best but i guess fans of most clubs would make that claim.

southbankbornnbred 3:00 Fri Feb 12
Re: Do we have a toxic fanbase?
I'll defend the cuntish West Ham fans, of whatever background, on the basis that at least they are our cunts.

Our support for the club should be what unites us - the clue is in the name...

southbankbornnbred 2:59 Fri Feb 12
Re: Do we have a toxic fanbase?
West Ham fans who turn on West Ham fans should not be West Ham fans.

We are only ever strong as a club when the fans are strong.

All else is guff and nonsense.

Re: Do we have a toxic fanbase?
Brit.

Calling Arsenal a fake club is ridiculous. Highbury was one of the great theatres of football and they have a rich history going back to the 1930's. The fact that they are part of the so called 'elite' is hardly their fault, thats part of what the PL bosses have moulded over the years.

Tottenham's history ls farc less rich but again,WHL was a grest football ground, they did the first double this century and were the first British club to win a major European trophy.

Chelsea. Their history is only recent, very much a two bob club til the Russian mobster turned up. Very much favoured by the media in this PL era and a club of little substance.

The one thing all 3 have in common is their moronic fans and their sense of entitlement. Saying that, fans wern't as cuntish pre Premier League,i think they are a slight reflection on where the game has gone. Being a regular user of this board for over 18 years we clearly have a number of fans who would feel equally at home at any of the above 3
